When trying to protect a computer through the Sophos Enterprise Console, the installation fails and you see the error:
[DATE] [TIME] 00000005 Verification of update files failed. The files did not match the manifest.

The distribution point you are using to protect the computer is corrupted and must be recompiled. The installation files must be downloaded and decoded into the central share.
The steps below show how to flush the corrupt files from the server and re-populate the share.

From the console re-protect the desired computer as necessary. If the error appears again and the instructions above have been followed, contact Sophos Technical Support.
