File encryption policies are not being applied as expected
First seen in SafeGuard File Encryption
File Encryption policies for shared resources can be specified by either using the mapped drive letter or the server\ share name. It is not possible to use the domain name or the IP address of the server which hosts the shared resource.
Use a valid format in the File Encryption policy as described below.
Examples for valid File Encryption policy:
Examples for invalid File Encryption policy:
\\DomainName\Share\Folder \\Server.domain.com\Folder \\192.168.0.3\Share\Folder
Note: Encryption rules based on IP addresses work as long as the access to files is done via the IP address. However, it does not work if access is done via the host name since the file encryption sub-system on the client does not resolve host names to IP addresses.
