This article explains how to compress (or 'zip up') a file using either the built in Windows compression tool or 7-zip (a free and open source Windows utility for manipulating archives).
Though it is possible to compress a file using the built in Windows tool a much smaller file size can be produced if you use the 7-zip utility. When compressing large files we recommend you use 7-zip so it is easier to transfer and/or uploaded the file.
Choose a method for compressing a file:

The file is now compressed. It has the same file name as the original but with a '.zip' file extension.
7-zip is a third-party application and not part of the Windows operating system. If not installed you can download/install the latest version from 7-zip.org.
