A 2008 R2 server is a member of a domain but a local account is used to run the Patch related services on the Sophos Management Server.
The issue does not affect Windows 2003 servers.
Use a domain account to run the Patch related services (on the management server) when in a domain. This needs to be changed by re-running the Enterprise Console installer entering a different account in the Database Details screen.
