"Wanna" ransomware outbreak. Please see this Sophos article sophos.com/kb/126733 for advice on how to protect your organization. Immediate action recommended.
When installing Enterprise Console 5.x the following message is shown:
You do not appear to have sufficient privileges to create the Sophos database on the selected SQL Server instance. Are you sure that you want to continue?
First seen in
Enterprise Console 5.0.0
The logged on user does not have the SQL permission "CREATE ANY DATABASE".
Either log on to the computer, that hosts the SQL Server, with a Windows account that has the 'dbcreator' right or temporarily grant the logged on user the 'dbcreator' right.
The installer checks the logged on user has sufficient rights to create a new database by executing the following SQL command:
SELECT permission_name FROM sys.fn_my_permissions(NULL, 'SERVER')
This command returns a list of permissions the logged on user has over the SQL instance. The installer checks that the 'permission_name' value 'CREATE ANY DATABASE' is returned.
If the permission is not returned, the error above is displayed and the following message is logged in the installer log file (%temp%\Sophos_bootstrapper [TIMESTAMP].log):
[TIMESTAMP], INFO : Validating logged on user permissions... [TIMESTAMP], ERROR : Logged on user does not have permissions to create a database
