Note: If it shows a single Recommended version, the license is limiting the versions that can be selected.
Depending on both the Platform (operating system) selected and the type of license you have, there may be several labeled versions or subscriptions available. The name of the License/License family is displayed near the top of the Software Subscription window.
The subscriptions that are available to you are displayed in the Version drop-down list. Under normal circumstances, Sophos advises to subscribe to Recommended. However, for software management reasons, there are also options to a different version, for example, Previous, Oldest, etc. Check the drop-down list to see which subscriptions are available.

If one decides to subscribe to any software version other than Recommended, the system will still be fully protected from the latest malware threats; however it is not best protected.

To create and use a new subscription, create the subscription first then apply it to the Update manager. Confirm if the policies are correct and check the software versions reported by the endpoints.
In Enterprise Console click View > Update managers. Your Software Subscriptions are displayed in the left hand panel.
Note: If the subscription is in use, you will not be able to delete it straight from here, do as follows:
While your Software Subscriptions will upgrade automatically, there may be instances with older installations of Sophos Enterprise Console where this re-subscription does not occur. In this instances you will receive an update failure.

To resolve this, change the Version to one shown in the Locate and view Software Subscriptions section. If no GUID is listed, click OK to resolve the error.
