Web Intelligence for Mac

I have been installing Sophos Cloud (version 9.4.2) on our Apple computers and I have one user (on OSX 10.11) stating that Sophos Web Intelligence has caused a serious slow down in her web browser. It seems to take several seconds to scan each page before displaying it. To try to reproduce the issue I installed Sophos (using the same installation file) on another Macbook Air (10.10), but on the tester it doesn't even have Web Intelligence (judging from the Activity Monitor).

So my questions are:

Why does one have Web Intelligence and the other doesn't?

Does the difference between 10.11 and 10.10 matter?

If needed, how can I disable Web Intelligence and what will that affect?

  • Hi DJfound,

The Web Intelligence should be ON when Web Protection is enabled.

You can access and change the Web Protection settings from the Sophos Anti-Virus Preferences. You can open the Preferences by clicking on the Sophos Shield icon on the top right hand corner of the screen.

If you turn off both Web Protection settings the Web Intelligence process should stop, and you can test your websites at this point.

Let us know how this goes for you

    Good day,
