Web Policy Settings not being reflected on Mac Client

In Sophos cloud right now I have two simple policies, the default and a Mac policy.  Both have Web Protection turned off.  However on the client the Sophos preferences still show both Web protection prefs as On.

We don't need web protection as we have other appliances for that duty, and we've had issues with this Sophos setting before so like to have it turned off.  The same settings work fine from our SEC.

I know the policies are coming down correctly because things like Tamper Protection will toggle on and off.

  • Hi,

Thank you for your request. I am one of the support Engineers at Sophos.

At the moment the Cloud Mac Endpoint only has one feature called Web protection. This feature is split into two sections -

    - Block malicous websites

    - Black malicious downloads

There is no option in the interface to disable this. If you create a support request with us we can disable the Web protection feature from the back end. We will need the remote assistance enabled.

The Web control feature will be available in beta for MAC machines shortly.

    Regards, Gareth

  • Thanks for that info.  Is there any way to tell which current settings apply to PC/MAC either/or?

  • Hi,

By default the web protection will be enabled on all machines.
