Sophos Cloud requires AD user?

Am I missing something here?  Being told that Sophos Cloud requires an AD account for each device to be protected? We have used Enterprise Console for many years & have never ran into this issue.  Isn't there a way to manage a machine or group of machines in the cloud with no AD tied to it?  This is a Mac environment.  Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

That is not correct.  The ADSync utility for Sophos Cloud is optional.  Within that you are required to specify an account in that utility to access a DC in order to perform LDAP queries.  That would typically be a domain account.

Is the main deployment article and describes the different ways to install the software.

The main difference between SEC and Cloud is that the polices at least for wokstations/laptops are user based.  Policies for servers can be server based.

Typically you would have the default base policy applied to all users.  If you need certain users to have different policies they would be layered on top with custom policies where you assign those users specifically.  You can also users groups if required.
