Bandwith Issues Chrome/Firefox/Edge

Can confirm our users experience the same bandwidth issues when running Sophos Web Protection.

400-700Mbps with Sophos Disabled, ~70Mbps with Sophos enabled.


This is obviously affecting a massive amount of users. When can we expect a fix?

A test-build driver has been made available. I suggest reaching out to Sophos Support via a Support Case to ask for this, as our teams are looking for feedback from customers on the efficacy of the driver. 

The main changes applied will be to improve on slow download speeds experienced by some customers, this may not be directly evident when running a "speedtest" as the speedtest does not use legitimate files to perform the test, but instead uses scripting to time the download of files. 

Further work is continuing to better handle speedtests as well as latency when browsing websites. 

Logged a ticket. support wants me to test on clean OS, speed test, then install Sophos, speed test, then Wireshark and speed test.How can we get full speed back? I have 10 computers that need to download about 700Gb from dropbox each night to process. C

the only way i was able to get my speed back was by disabling network threat protection in the end point. this is not a solution but a work around until a fix is released. network threat protection will re-enable on its own after  4 hrs.

Do you have an internal reference number for this fix to test

Not doing that every 4 hours. Already 4 days behind. Have 1.8TB in dropbox to process and downloading at 800k per sec on a 1Gbit connection. Not happy. we just did a renewal for 12 months at over $100k

same here, not happy at all. We are moving away from this product for end point protection. I've been dealing with this for the past 3 months and I get no where with support. there only reply was for me to try installing a driver and let them know if it resolves the issue. We didn't purchase this product to become a product tester. they need to find a permanent fix and release to the public.

we have the same Problem , Internet Bandwith is 400Mps and User have max 140mbps on Scan by oak Net

We're seeing this as well. For example: when I begin a large file download (30GB) from an internal server, it hits around 200Mbps and I'm immediately unable to browse the web, stream, etc. The file download gradually slows down to a crawl but browsing performance does not improve. 

Can I get access to get this beta driver? Any ETA on when it may be released? Our end users are complaining.

I would open a ticket with support to get early access to the driver. according to support this driver will be release in the next update,but if you don't want to wait reach out to support to get the driver.

I've decided to just wait until the driver is released to the public.

for systems that are affected, I've removed Sophos AV from the system until the driver is available.
