How can I permanently wipe my old PC before selling ?

Hello,

I am planning to sell my 2005 HP PC whose mostly components are not compatible with today's technology. More than that my work requirement forced me to upgrade to some high-end PC/laptop. Before selling, I want to be completely sure that all of my data will be erased from a desktop. Backup was already taken. Any suggestions members, how can I erase my sensitive data.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Processor = Pentium 4

OS = Windows XP

RAM = 1GB

Any more information you required?

Is using sledgehammer a good option, my friend recently destroy her hard drive by this method. Please suggest.
