Does a scan resume if Sophos crashes before it has finished, or there is a Kernel Panic?

I have had Sophos anti-virus scanning for two whole days and it looks as though it may take another two before it has finished.  As my computer is very prone to kernel panics, I am worried that if this happens, the scan may start all over from the beginning instead of where it has gotten up to.

Can someone tell me if the scan resumes from where it has got up to at the time of a crash, accidental quit or kernel panic?

Thanks

Derek Williams

  • An on-deman scan will not resume if something (crashes or kernel panics) happens to your system. This behaviour might be changed in a future release.

On the other hand I'm concerned about the long scan time. A fresh installed system scans in about 1 - 1.5 hours (single partition volume).

Which Sophos Anti-Virus version do you run and which OS version are you using?
