Sophos not running

Hi,

I'm having a small issue with Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac (OS 10.7.5) which is running on my Mac mini. It doesn't start at start up and a couple of minutes later a small window pops up (see attachment) with the following message: "Sophos anti-virus is not running". I've checked and it's up to date (9.0.11). What should I do to have it run like it did before?

              On my Mac OS 10.6.8 I get the same pop-up message:  "Sophos Anti Virus Program not running - Error".   It only started doing this recently.  How do I get it going again and stop these error messages?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
