  • When does this come up? Bit of context?

The kext you mention is for Roxio software (either Toast or CD Spin Doctor) by the sounds of things from Googling it.  Looking at a couple of Apple discussions updating your version of Mac OS X to the latest, and installing the latest version of Roxio software seems to have helped a couple of others.  These posts are all back in 2009 so I'm thinking you may have an older operating system to be seeing a problem like this.

Note:  This is all just Googling the name of the kext - I don't know what software you have, version of Mac OS X, nor why the install of Sophos Anti-Virus errors.

  • I have the same problem That same file reporting as "System extension cannot be found".  CDSDAudioCaptureSupport.kext.  However it goes on to say the installation was successful.

The question now is.  Is it working or not?

The EICAR test virus (not a virus and designed for just this sort of thing) would allow you to check.  You can experience with our software and see if a detection occurs when you download or try to access the file (depending on what you set the preference to).
