It is only taking 1 second to scan my mac

Hello

While using Chrome the message that SOPHOS had stopped working came up so I clicked the "Scan this Mac" button and what usually takes ages to scan it is saying it is complete after a 1 second scan.

I closed down and restarted and the SOPHOS has a cross in the icon and still isnt working.

What shall I do please?
