Mal/Small-A what is this?

On 20th May at 10:11:41 On-Access Scanner denied access to, then cleaned up, and then removed an infective agent called Mal/Small-A. This occurred whilst my computer was being temporarily controlled remotely with my consent and the third party was attempting to upgrade some software on my machine. My question is, what is Mal/Small-A? An internet search reveals nothing but a reference to it from Sophos, but the knowledge bases contain no further clues. I need to be able to trust this third party in future, and therefore need to know whether or not this was a case of misidentification, or if an exploit was being attempted. Thank you.

  • Mal/Small-A is a Windows-only threat so no danger to your Mac.  Check the log to see if it says where the threat was found - that may help give you a clue.
