Put sophos into the trash and empitied it, and still hasnt uninstalled

I put all the sophos files into the trash and empited it as i could not install trend micro maxium security with Sophos on my macbook pro. Now that i have gotten rid of all the Sophos files, trend micro still says that i need to uninstall it. When i try to redownload and install Sophos to then use the unistall wizard, i cannot even install it due to Sophos also saying that Sophos is already installed, similar to Trend micro. I now have no security and am very confused and annoyed any help would me greatly appreciated.

that's not the correct way to remove any app which is "incorporated" into the system. Please see Remove (uninstall) Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition (the free version), in particular the fourth post refers to the knowledgebase article which links to the Removal Tool.

cheers for the reply, i downloaded the removal tool, and it pops up "Sophus Anti-virus is not installed", yet trand micro detects it and tells me to remove it before i can install it.

pops up "Sophos Anti-virus is not installed"

... while the Sophos installer (if you give it another try) still says it's already installed? Is this so? Might be necessary to post (part of) the install.log as mentioned in the article's Further Help paragraph.
