Sophos crashing Yosemite

I have an iMac 10.9.5 with update installed Yosemite.  I had a virus hit some of my downloaded files and wanted to install Sophos which was highly recommended.

I have been reading how Sophos for Mac is not compatible with Yosemite.  What the deal with that?  What should I expect to happen now that I downloaded Sophos 

on my Mac?

Hi. I've removed Sophos Home Edition from Yosemite using the Sophos uninstaller, but I'm still getting crashes. The system diagnostic report shows that sophoswebintelligence is causing the crash, so the uninstaller obviously leaves it on the system. Can anyone tell me how to remove this? Thanks

SAV 9.x is compatible with OSX 10.6 and newer. You shouldn't expect any problems.

I've used the app to remove Sophos but webintelligence is still on the system somewhere and being flagged in a crash report.

That's very weird. Can you try the following?

From Terminal try the following to see if anything is listed:

ls /var/db/receipts/com.sophos.*

If yes, you can try to remove the product manually by removing everything in the following list:

/Library/Sophos Anti-Virus
/Library/LaunchDaemos/com.sophos.*
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.sophos.*
/Library/Preferences/com.sophos.*
/Library/Logs/Sophos Anti-Virus.log
/Applications/Sophos Anti-Virus.app
/Applications/Sophos Remove.app
/var/db/receipts/com.sophos.*
 
You'll need administrative rights to remove most of those files. Then reboot, to ensure everything is cleared from memory too. Then run through the list again, to ensure you got everything.
 
Warning: Be cautious when deleting things in some of those directories. Not everything in there is related to our software - our files contain the name "Sophos".

Hi. What I can't understand is that although webintelligence is still featuring in crash reports, according to terminal there are no Sophos files on my system.

Well in the crash report it references a file located under /Library/Sophos Anti-Virus, which makes me think the files are actually still there.

Can you confirm you've actually deleted all the files I mentioned previously?
