Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite, SAV Mac 9.2.2, and You

Hey everyone,

We released version 9.2.2 to all Home Edition endpoints earlier today, this version contains the latest updates and is compatible with Mac OS X 10.10. Although the previous version (9.1.5) was also compatible, this update brings the latest improvements and refinements.

We also posted a new installer to our website today as well. Visit www.sophos.com if you need a copy.

We provide an uninstaller (removal tool) when we install the software. Have a look at this post containing lots of useful advice:

  • Is this why I am geting a message every time I turn my computer on stating that Sophos AV is not running? How do I download the new version if so.

    Thanks.

  • I'm having a problem with auto update since the new version.  The error log says:  com.sophos.autoupdate: Access was denied.

is this because I tried Cloud and decided against it?  I unregistered my MBP and removed the software and reinstalled SAV MAC.  Now when I go back to the Cloud Dashboard, I'm locked out.

  • Mac Yosemite 10.10.2

I am unable to install Sophos Antivirus for Mac (SAV).  I have been able to install and uninstall Sophos many times over the last 3 years.  This is the first time I have been unable to install SAV.

My home computer, its settings and preferences, and its programs have not changed.  I have just finished uninstalling all programs and wiping the hard drive of my computer.  I am reinstalling my programs, but (as stated above) I am unable to reinstall Sophos Antivirus for Mac.

I have repeatedly entered my name and email address at the Antivirus for Mac - Download page, clicked the Download Installer icon (which says Download savosx_he_r).

On some occasions, I am taken to a page that has a check box at the bottom, which says I agree to Sophos' EULA.  I check the box and click Download, I am taken to a page (at http://downloads.sophos.com) that says:

    File not found."

On other occasions, I am taken from the Antivirus for Mac - Download page directly to the [ http://downloads.sophos.com [ page, which again says:

    File not found."

I have had the same problem repeatedly regardless of which browser (Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari) that I use.

Any suggestions on how I might install Sophos SAV for Yosemite 10.10.2?

We have received a number of reports of this situation today, our operations team is investigating. Appears to be unrelated to the updating problems last week, and I'm sure they'll get it resolved rapidly. Thanks for your support and patience.

  • I installed the Sophos for Mac product and ran the scan. It finished with the following messages:

    This scan has never completed.

    No threats found.

    Issues Detected.

These are conflicting messages. Since the scan completed, do the messages mean there were no problems ?

    Thanks.

Yeah that seems werid. What is in the scan log? You can view the scan log by a right-click on a given scan, and select "View Scan Log". You can also select a scan and use the action menu (the thing that looks like a gear in the lower left corner of the window).

  • Hi Bob - The Sophos scan results window disappeared after a few minutes so I started the Sophos program again(not the scan) and it gave the results of the scan again in a window. It said 'No threats found'. It didn't have the issues detected message. So I guess the scan is ok ?

Do you know what that corrupt file message means in the /library directory ?

I've attached the scan log as you requested. I do have a question about a item under Configuration. - Action on infected files: Report Only.

If a infected file is found, it won't be fixed ? I thought anything dangerous would be quarantined and cleaned ?

    Thanks.
