can't get rid of sophos

Someone PLEASE help me unistall this product! I have been trying to remove sophos from my MAC for 2 years...it never goes away...i tried the uninstaller before and nothing....now everytime I start my computer the sophos UIserver is open...I am no longer able to share photos to facebook ever since this happened...it won't let me force quit it either... i just removed the application tonight by throwing it in the trash including the unistaller...now i read that was not smart becuase fragments of the program still remain....how do i get rid of every trace of this program? I don't even know which version I have, I downloaded it 3 years ago and I'm running MAC OS X version 10.7.5...HELP

The Home Edition of SAV for Mac doesn't have a tamper protection password - the Home Edition is designed for home users who have one (maybe two) Macs and administer those computers themselves.

If you are prompted for a tamper protection password like this...

...then you don't have the Home Edition and/or your version of SAV for Mac is not administered by you.  If you go to the menu bar, click the Sophos shield, and select 'About Sophos Anti-Virus' what exactly is the version shown?
