Is it possible to still obtain Mac SAV v8

I have an iMac that is almost 10 years old and I use it for software I depend on. I want to continue using the machine.  It runs OS X 10.4.11.

I have Norton Antivirus installed that was 'retired' in 2011 or 2012--i.e., it's unsupported. 'Unsupported' is about the only AV protection I could hope for. Sophos v8 wasn't retired until last year, so it's newer than I have, and deals with Malware which mine does not.

Despite v8 having been officially retired, would it still be possible to obtain a copy of the most up-to-date installer?

I'm sure Sophos still has the software available, though unsupported. Is there a Sophos ftp site I could go to?

  • If you don't feel like constantly chasing your tail you make practical adjustments in you behavior and accept some added risks. 'My 'build' is late 2005 or early 2006. I looked into it; the consensus was that I probably couldn't do better than 'Lion' and more probably 'Snow Leopard'--to me the effort was hardly worth the risk of 'breaking' my other apps and expending the added effort of locating and downloading and installing all the software needed to get maybe an extra year and a half of comfort. We live on different continents I'm afraid. You look for almost certainty; I don't.
