Issue with Sophos Flashing Tool

Hello everyone,

we have an issue with Sophos Flashing Tool. We tried to unbrick an AP15 using the tool from here: https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/135236 but everytime when we run it and press on "Connect" it immediately closes and we have the following 2 events in logs:

event ID 1000 Application Error
Faulting application name: Sophos Flashing Tool.exe version 1.0.0.0
Faulting module name: Kernelbase.dll version 10.0.18362.815
Exception code: 0xe0434352

event ID 1026 .NET Runtime

Application: Sophos Flashing Tool.exe
Framework version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception
Exception Info: System.IO.FileNoteFoundException

the OS is Windows 10 1903 Enterprise, we disable the firewall, turn off the antivirus, and install .NET 4.8

Should we install definitely NET v4.0.30319 or there is another issue? I thought that with 4.8 it should be working as well.

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Sowitec,

The KB for the Flash Tool has been updated with a new Flash Tool.

Note: The Flashtool is not supported for AP10, AP30, and AP50.
