Sophos XG Home Free on ESXi is unable to boot after starting upgrade to v18

Hello!

I had XG v17 running on ESXi VM for a year or about with regular upgrades within v17. Today I found that v18 is available to upgrade and decided to immediately upgrade (yes, exactly, without doing a config backup :)). When I hit install Web UI told me that appliance need at least 4Gb of RAM to run (VM had 2Gb).

I was going to shutdown XG and give it more RAM but found that XG is already unreachable. Checking console on ESXi I found that it was booted from ISO (it was connected but with lower priority that HDD) for initial v17 that I installed a year ago.

Then I found that VM now is unable to boot from disk at all. It just cannot find any boot image on disk.

As I understand v18 installed new bootloader to disk and for some reason it cannot be found.

Is there any chance to fix it (at least switch back to v17) without reinstalling and reconfiguring XG again?

Thanks in advance!
