Why is my user status stuck in SGN Guest?

Worked with SOPHOS Engineer to install server SafeGuard management and client install on my machine. Using Windows 8.1 Pro/BitLocker. No domain or active directory - company is virtual. When log in with my usual credentials on my machine as administrator , refuses to become SGN Owner and stays SGN guest. When creating a new user on my machine and logging in, AutoRegisters fine and I get the initial SafeGuard Login password set screen. SOPHOS engineer could not trouble shoot problem. Is there a setting because I am user on server ad on client that prevents client from registering?

  • Hi Brian,

are you running a Service Account List in a SafeGuard policy that actively prevents certain account names from taking over ownership on a machine? (Usually used for Administrative Accounts or Deployment Service Account).
The Service Account lists can be found in the SafeGuard Management Center (Policy Tab) and are deployed to the SafeGuard Clients via an "Authentication -> Logon Options -> Service Account List" policy.

  • I have a service account list setup and it was selected in the policy. The user name was "Administrator" and the domain was "*". The computers and users I am having issues with....the users are administrator accounts on their local windows logon. I changed the value to "byavorsky" and left domain as "*". I asked the employees in question to reboot. I am hoping that this allows them to continue on with POA and encryption. Perhaps they were being mistakingly lumped into the Service Account List. I will let you know if this does the trick
  • I did this and employees rebooted, still stuck in SGN Guest and no plus signs showing their username under their auto-registered machine name yet. Other ideas?
