The installation process - What am I doing wrong?

Hi guys. I have no idea if I'm doing this correctly. I'm trying to install Safe Guard Disk Encryption on a test computer with Windows 7 Pro - Swedish, and I have the folder called "safeGuardDiskEncryption".

1. Went inside that folder and into the "install" folder.

2. Checked the readme file and it says that the SGxClientPreinstall.msi has to be installed first.

3. Install the file and just keep hitting next.

4. Installation done. I have no idea what I'm doing because the manual is different.

5. Next, I go for the "SDEClient" since I have a 32-bit test computer and install that.

6. Still no options for password or user change/permissions. Nothing is like the manual.

7. I reboot the computer thinking I've done something correct.

8. Computer starts a BOA SafeGuard installation and reboots.

9. "SafeGuard Autologon" starts and next part gives me an error.

10. I learn from the internet that Shift-F6 fixes that error (toggle compability mode).

11. Computer boots up and gets to Windows logon screen, but it looks different.

12. Two of the same administator account. One with a sophos profile image and one without.

13. I get a third option as well, "Other User" in English which also has a sophos key image.

14. Now I'm really lost.

Please help. Thanks!

  • If its anything like 6.1 click on the Administrator account with the Sophos profile image. If you need to log in as another user click on the Other user box and authenticate that way. Your pretty much looking at the Windows log in - however there are two options due to the way Safegaurd handles the user accounts in the POA.

By the sounds of it you installed everything correctly so long as its not managed by a server. You can also prevent that error appearing by installing the MSI file via command prompt with the POACFG.

Would say more but  I have a train to catch but I am sure I have posted some details somewhere in the forum before ;)
