key missing from laptop?

Hello

What can be wrong or what has user done wrong when I can't find other keys from management console for one laptop than BOOT_xxxxx@SELF_REG? There is no BOOT_xxxxx@domain.xx like normal.

I'm quite new with sophos so this is first time I've seen this. Can anyone explain this..

  • Hi Meea,

no need to worry, the user did nothing wrong. The naming of the encryption key depends on whether or not the machine object is known to the SafeGuard Server once the SafeGuard Client connects for the first time.

    • If a machine object has been imported from Active Directory into the SafeGuard Database before the SafeGuard Client had been installed on the machine, the domain name will be part of the encryption key display name (e.g. BOOT_%machinename%@domain).
    • If the SafeGuard Client was installed on the machine and the machine contacts the SafeGuard Server before the machine object was imported from Active Directory, the display name of the encryption key shows up as BOOT_%machinename%@SELF_REG.

The functionality of the keys is the same, regardless of the naming.
