SafeGuard and HP elitebook 840 wont boot on dock

We are running safeguard 6.10, our new shipments of 840's will not boot while on the dock, they freeze up on the "please wait safeguard is loading" screen.

Does anyone have a work around or fix for this, other than booting off-dock then docking the laptop?

Thanks in advance.

  • Looking at the POACFG you will probably need to turn USB support off.

Before the POA boots hold down the Shift key. When "Shift Key pressed. Waiting for Hotkey" appears press F5.

Failing that there is an intergrated graphics option you could try disabling in the BIOS. That came up for us when we needed to plug an Elitebook 840 into a dock.

In the future you can install Safeguard 6.1 using the POACFG to apply these changes automaticly depending on the laptop your installing Safeguard on.

Go to ftp://POACFG:F7a4d5f569@ftp-insecure.sophos.com:21 and copy POACFG_as_of_6_1x .xml to the folder the Safeguard MSI files are located. Then when you need to install the second MSI - open a CMD and run the following command:

    msiexec /i C:\Encryption\02-SGNClient_x64.msi POACFG=C:\Encryption\POACFG_as_of_6_1x.xml

The file updates on roughly 15th of every month. More details about getting into the POA and what the POACFG file is are availible here: https://sophserv.sophos.com/repo_kb/111919/file/111919_Analyzing%20POA%20issues.pdf
