my laptop was to be migrated from WXP to W7.
the hard drive had 2 sections - C drive for the programs; D drive for the documents. only C drive was Sophos encrypted.
the entire data (C & D) was transferred to a USB drive.
but while installing W7, the motherboard of my computer crashed.
hence I was allotted another computer. my old hard drive was shifted there and W7 was installed in it. (but without Sophos) (say Computer 1)
no data has been copied to Computer 1.
simultaneously the old computer has been fixed, a new hard drive put in it, WXP installed and all data transferred from USB drive. (say Computer 2)
Sophos is also installed in Computer 2.
but now the data cannot be read either from the USB drive or in Computer 2.
opening data in Computer 2, files are opening in encrypted format.
while opening in USB drive is giving message "file is encrypted with key 'mek_kunjha@2013-10-29_09:34;12.105'. you do not have the key in your keyring"
(kunjha is an user, whose data was previously stored in the USB drive)
manual decrypting of the files in USB drive also does not seem to work.
which leaves me with 2 computers and no files!!!!!
only lotus notes has started working in Computer 1 with a new id file.
hence, this is an earnest request to take up retrieving of the files seriously.
also request you to involve the vendor (Sophos), if required, to come up with a solution to read the files.
