SafeGuard Configuration Protection: LocalCache Files damaged or not created

Hi erveryone,

since I resolved our problems with the CP-Client, I set up a new SafeGuard server on Windows Server 2008 R2 (VMWare machine).

The server works fine. But now I have to update 150 clients (no device encryption - only configuration protection). At the same time I want to patch the CP-Client.

So I wrote an uninstall an install script. The uninstall works fine. I uninstall all parts of SafeGuard from the client and clean the registry complete from old server data and entries. I delete all old files, like "C:\ProgramData\Utimaco\*" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sophos\*". So that the new installation has a clean client.

I decited to install the new version on Windows 7 enterprise at startup. I use a GPO for that (machine startup script). I tested the script on a few test clients (x64 / x86 / with AV / without AV --> AV ==> Symantec Endpoint Protection with excluded Sophos folders). Everything looks fine.

Today I rolled the script to live machines out. The installation logs were ok. Everything was installed correctly. So I walked to one of the machines and logged on..... Bang..... The client shutdown.... Through the next client.... Same.... Shutdown immediately after logon-screen. At the Enterprise console nothing was logged.

I booted up to safe mode and checked the localcache at "C:\ProgramData\Utimaco\SafeGuard Enterprise\". At one client there was nothing and at the other client there were only fragments.

Could anyone tell me, why these files are not correctly created and how I can rebuild them without reinstall the whole client.

Is it recommend to deactivate the AV at installation?

In some cases after uninstall not all old files were deleted. The "LocalCacheBackup" folder wasn't deleted completly. In that folder there is a backup of the local cache saved. But the "lc.uti" is protected, so I must change the user rights to "everyone" to delete this file and folders.

If this file exists at a new installation, it will fail. The machine will be corrupt and won't be accessable.

Last chance to rescue the machine is the Windows Recovery Console from SafeMode. If it is deactivated, only a fresh installation of the OS could help.

!!! Antivirus solutions should be deactivated at a installation !!!

If someone is interessted in the uninstall script, please contact me.
