Windows 8 - Safeguard 6.10

Hi Everyone,

I would like to hear from IT admins on how they're currently deploying Safeguard Enterprise 6.10 to their Windows 8 devices.

We have the three files, SGPreinstall, SGClient and SGPKG.

In Windows 7 we used to script the install of our devices.

I use exactly the same script as we do on Windows 7 devices. The only change is that instead of using
"ADDLOCAL=Client,BaseEncryption,SectorBasedEncryption,CredentialProvider"
I used
"ADDLOCAL=Client,CredentialProvider,BitLockerSupport,"
You *can* use ADDLOCAL=All to install either Bitlocker or the SGN driver depending on whether there is a TPM chip - however since we prefer the SGN driver on Windows 7 devices I used seperate scripts. I think Addlocal=All also installs the other modules as well.

Hi REjaz,
I've seen a number of admins handling their own ways of deploying SafeGuard to endpoints.
SCCM, logon scripts, .VBS scripts, ect..
If you're installing SafeGuard on Windows 8.1, I would recommend you move to SafeGuard 7.x as it has a much better compatibility with Windows 8.1, supports auto-mounting secondary bitlocker drives, as well as automated TPM activation. (Unless hard disabled in the BIOS). Amongst numerous bug fixes, improvements, and optimizations.

Hi Simon

What script is that? Is the script deployed via GPO?

We seem to having difficulties deploying safeguard 6.10 with the bitlocker c/r and data exchange. It seems that the sophos consultant we had, had forgotten to help us with that part.

Is there an upgrade guide for customers on 6.10 currently. Also what known issues does 7 resolve? We upgraded to 6.10 for win 8 support so it seems abit much to upgrade again without a good reason.

Also you probably wont want to role out Bitlocker with C/R using Safegaurd 6.1 as there is a bug preventing you from assigning the encryption key to other clients.
Apparently this is fixed in Safeguard 7.
