Unlock Locked Workstation with LSH

Hello Community,

i got a little problem concerning Local Self Help. I kindly aks for advice.

I configured LSH and the accroding questions in a policy and assigned it to my clients. The user can answer the specified questions. At POA-Level, when the Client is not yet locked, the user can use LSH to boot the client and/or view his "forgotten" password.

BUT: if the user has put in the password too often the workstation gets locked and the user is not able to unlock the workstation using LSH. The only way to gain access again is to use the Challenge-Response with the help desk operator.

I haven't found a hint, that unlocking a locked workstation is not possible with LSH in the documentation of SGE.

The version of my Mgmt-Center is 6.00.1.31.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Regards

Alex

  • Hi Alex,

a failed Local Self Help recovery procedure is considered a failed logon attempt. In this case, a logon delay goes into effect. The logon delay period increases with every failed logon attempt.

Once a workstation has been locked (due to the amount of failed login attempts) it can only be unlocked using the Challenge/Response procedure and not via Local Self Help itself.
