Safeguard 6.10 + Sophos 5.2.2 - Can they exist on the same 2012 R2 server?!

Have set up and migrated our existing Sophos server from it's old 2003 platform to 2012 R2.  After a few teething problems this is now up and running with no issues.

Thinking it would be a good opportunity to free up another server I've also done a fresh install of Safeguard 6.10.0.374 onto the new Sophos server and set that up to deploy to several new laptops (we only use SafeGuard for our laptops so any existing ones would be reinstalled with the new client software when we next have them in the office).  This would, when complete, allow me to shutdown our existing SafeGuard 2008 box.

I've created new configuration packages and everything appears to be working fine except that the new client is unable to talk to the server when deployed.  It simply says "Cannot connect to Sophos SafeGuard server!".

We use the Sophos transport mechanism as oppose to https.  I can ping the server from the client and vice versa.

When I investigate further I can't browse to the server path (http://<servername>/SGNSRV/) and the error message seems to indicate an issue with the trans.asmx file.

On the server if I browse to the site through the IiS Manager I get "404.3 - Not found" and a message about extension configurations (If the page is a script add a handler, if the file should be downloaded add a MIME map).  Seems to be with the file trans.asmx.

My IiS knowledge isn't great but I'm happy to have a play if anyone has any suggestions?!  If it's simply a case that both software packages need their own respective servers then that's fine!

Thanks.

Simon

  • Hi Simon,

Enterprise Console and SafeGuard cannot co-exist on the same server as of Enterprise Console 5.2.

There should've been a popup notification from either piece of software saying that it's incompatible.

Both software platforms will need their own respective servers to run on.
