Installing SGN client to keep Web HelpDesk user AD and SO passwords in synch but not encrypt.

Hello,

We have several Web Helpdesk users who do not have the Safeguard client installed (they are not required by policy to have encryption installed).  When they change their AD password, Management Center is not updated and the passwords become out of synch.  They resort to using old password until they can logon to another machine with the client installed.

We know that generally the client needs to be installed to keep AD and Management Center passwords in synch.  We have a global policy which would encrypt any machine with the client installed, and would apply to the HelpDesk users' machines.  We do not want these machines to be encrypted.

Is it possible to install the client to keep passwords in synch only?  I'm thinking this might be accomplished with ADDLOCAL=Client only -- is this correct?

  • Installing "Client only" is not enough. You need to install at least one module.

We install feature "Data Exchange" for Helpdesk workstations as a workaround.

This way workstations remain unencrypted and  password sync works.
