Migration way from Safeguard Management Central v. 8.10 to latest version

Hello,

I've a Safeguard Management Central server v.8.10.2.55 with safeguard device encryption clients 8.10.

I want to migrated to latest version for avoid issues with Mac devices.

Anyone can suggest to me the best wat to migrated servers/clients? Does is necessary to decrypt and encrypt each client?

Many thanks for your support,

Regards,

Carlos

  • Hi Carolos - You don't need to upgrade the servers, simply installing the latest Mac client on your Mac workstations/Macbooks on top of the old one will give you Big Sur support. You do not need to decrypt or encrypt again. Is it compatibility with Big Sur the issue you're facing?

  • Thanks Michael for your quickly response.

I want to upgrade platform (Management Central) because we have troubles with web interface, too... the major problem is with Mac devices.. Because that, I through migrated to latest version, all issues will be fixed.

Roadmap Device encryption  8.10, the roadmap of support will be finished at end of 2021, does it right?

    Regards,

    Carlos

  • Hello. The whole suite of on-prem products have been given an EOL (end of life) now. For SafeGuard it’s July 2023 although it’s already not possible to purchase the product new, only renew if you already have it.

By all means upgrade to the latest versions you can but if you intend to stay with Sophos long term it may be worth looking at Sophos Central, the cloud. Based replacement for SafeGuard Enterprise. That said, that currently doesn’t have a file encryption element just disk encryption. If you only need that it would be a good alternative.
