Removing files from a Time Machine backup?

Hi,

Sophos Home is telling me that a virus was detected and can only be removed manually. When I click the, it take me to the file in question. When I try to delete the file, I receive the message;

'The operation cannot be completed because backup items can't be modified'

The file is within a time machine backup, so how do I remove it?

Thanks

Grant

  • Hi Grant,

    You can't delete those (threats backed up in TM), so you can ignore. You are still protected. If you restore that particular backup you will be able to manually delete. We are looking at handling these situations better in future revisions.

    Thank you,

    Bob
