WDOoptimiseur.exe -- Ever come across this?

Has anyone come across a file and/or program called WDOoptimiseur?

While poking around my windows 7 PC, I found it in C\program files\common files\PC Tools\

There was a whole slew of files, mostly DLLs, and WDOoptimiseur.exe.  Like a good doobie, I figured I'd click on it and see what happens.  It showed something like a control panel/main screen that was written in french.  I quit the program without poking around too much, figuring it might be trouble.  Checking the file properties indicated that PC Soft was the publisher of the program.  However, none of the search engines had any information on either PC Soft or WDOoptimiseur.  (Yes, it was in a subfolder called PC Tools, but the publisher was PC Soft.)  I figure it's a PUP of some sort.

There was no uninstall routine in Windows control panel/programs.  I did uninstall successfully with Revo Uninstaller. I don't think it did any harm; everything seems okay.

So... anybody have an idea what WDOoptimiseur might be?

Thanks!

  • Hello Fred,

wdoptimiseur.exe is a utility from PC Soft's WINDEV product. Quite possible that PC Tools used it and not unlikely that one or the other tool from PC Tools came preinstalled with your PC (and that's why it's not in Programs and Features) perhaps as time-limited "evaluation". Anyway PC Tools (acquired by Symantec) has been discontinued end of 2013.

And information is more or less easily found if you search for WDOptimiseur (note only one o) [;)]
