Things that need to be added/changed here - add your suggestions

On each post, I have to uncheck 'Notify me when someone replies to this post' even though I turned that off in my 'Settings'.

  • A new laundry list after being here for an hour today:

    1. When I first went to login, I got a message that I needed to enable cookies.  I immediately clicked on the link saying I'd done that and was taken straight to the login screen.  2015-11-24: This seems to have been resolved for me.  Possibly a browser issue.
    2. At one point, I touched something, the page blinked and the Reply I'd written was erased with no way to retrieve it.
    3. In a thread, a Reply posts to a new page.  In Messages, a reply posts to the same page, just as everything does in vBulletin. The technique used in Messages is preferable as it allows quicker and easier navigation.  If I notice an error in a Reply I've just added to a thread, I then have to go back four pages with attendant waits.
    4. An added hassle is that it positions you at the top of the page instead of looking at your newly-entered Reply.
    5. In vBulletin, one could add [CODE] and [URL] tags in the regular editor.  Here, there's no way to add a link with a title without going to the Advanced Editor which takes extra time.  I attempted to use HTML in the regular editor and totally confused it.
    6. I've already complained that the Advanced Editor is too tiny as is the font it uses for the text I enter.  This is because I shrink the page to 75% to make the other posts use a font small enough to be legible.  Others have complained about the inefficient use of space here related to this issue.
    7. The seems to be a glitch in the code for the Advanced Editor: in one post today, I linked to https://www.astaro.org/gateway-products/general-discussion/49065-rulz.html.  As you can see, it failed to render this as Rulz even though I added that as the title.
    8. After I submitted posts today, it took seven seconds for the Reply to appear.
    9. We need an option in Settings to always see all posts even if one has been labeled "Answer" by the OP.
    10. The hardware this runs on is still underpowered.
    11. If there's a way to get to the communities from www.sophos.com, I'm not creative enough to find it.
    12. In Ruckus' post also pinned to the top of this forum, I couldn't get page 2 to complete with a next-page arrow at the bottom.  When I tried to go to page 4 manually by altering the URL in the browser, I got timed out.  That thread may be broken, but it's hard to say as there are no other threads that long anywhere.

One of the primary design criteria for this community MUST become making it easier for the answerers.  Plainly, that was not a part of the original specification and represents a serious error by the person that made the initial decisions and set the direction for the developers.

As each of the issues in this forum is addressed, someone needs to come back to the entry where the suggestion was made and indicate that it has been finished.  In fact, rather than this informal method, I would have expected professional developers to have a ticketing system in place.

  • This was mentioned briefly here community.sophos.com/.../31878 by Emile. This forum is more of a question/answer format where users ask questions and if a sophos mod/employee feels like answering, he/she will answer and mark the thread as answered.
This is not a community forum. Community forum is used to develop ideas and come to a solution that does not exist in the company's how to guides. At the rate that the development is going on this forum, I really don't see them moving to anything else beyond what you see here. They will integrate some of the suggestions the best they can but not even having a cohesive structural breakdown of topics that was discussed more than a week ago in the thread community.sophos.com/.../10872 doesn't give me a lot of confidence.
I visit this site about once a week with my fingers crossed and not a single thing has changed other than the related content pop-up that was removed very early on. Really disappointing... but it is what it is and at the end, its sophos who can determine what is best for them... not the community.

P.S. By the way it is taking about 5 seconds after I click on anything. Don't know if it is routing/ISP issues or the server is overloaded already :(
