Allowing Apple Devices to Charge?

I see the latest version is blocking the apple devices, which is good, but i would like to ability for user to still charge their devices.

I see here that its not currently available:

Will sophos be changing this in the future?

Thanks

  • Hello chi-ltd,

I'd suppose to not use the available power is a decision made by the device when it finds the USB port disabled - (some) other devices do charge, some don't . AFAIK you can only enable or disable a USB port and not "switch" it into a dedicated charging port mode.

  • i think its an ios issue more than sophos.

here is the log of the apple device being blocked and stopped charging:

Use of controlled device type 'MTP/PTP' has been disabled by the administrator.

Use of controlled device type 'MTP/PTP' disabled: deviceId=USB\VID_05AC&PID_12A0\C6809D61733D215E320784A85F0F955194954A61, status=present.

here is the blackberry (which continues to allw charge):

Use of controlled device type 'Removable drives' has been disabled by the administrator.

Use of controlled device type 'Removable drives' disabled: deviceId=USBSTOR\DISK&VEN_RIM&PROD_BLACKBERRY_SD&REV_0003\7&3398846D&0&17E1FA0F820B3F077A5F13BC394210FE11B339B4&0, status=present.

this is more or less what I intended to say :smileyhappy:, with two minor corrections: ios - rather the device as charging should be possible without the OS loaded. BTW: At least the original iPad did load (albeit slowly) even though it said it couldn't because of an inappropriate (or whatever Apple calls it) charger. more than sophos - I'd say instead of as at the moment there's nothing Sophos could do.

  • Christian is correct, there is little we can do to change this behaviour.

    :49498
  • will you be changing this?

  • There is no current plan to change this behaviour.
